| BackgroundRandomizer is a simple plugin that changes the background of your X-Plane menu every time you open your simulator. It works by scanning a folder for the images you want to use, selecting a random image, and then updates the file used by X-Plane. Next time the simulator is opened the randomly selected image is displayed, so the first time you launch X-Plane with this plugin you may not notice a difference.
Four backgrounds are provided by default, but you can remove those and add your own by putting them in the plugin's image directory!
Requirements
- X-Plane 11 or <=12.04
- Windows, Mac or Linux
Notice
As of X-Plane 12.05, this plugin is no longer required. Backgrounds are now stored in
X-Plane 12/Resources/bitmaps/backgroundswhich means you can drop your backgrounds there instead. X-Plane will still shuffle through the images in this folder, just like BackgroundRandomizer did prior to 12.05.
Reverting back to the default image
To revert back to the default image, simply run the X-Plane installer or verify files on Steam. You will be prompted to overwrite changed files, so if you don't want to affect other add-ons, make sure to only overwrite /Resources/bitmaps/interface11/image_background_screenshot_for_stack.png!

It appears as if Laminar moved where the backgrounds are stored & this plugin is no longer needed- just drop your backgrounds in X-Plane 12/Resources/bitmaps/backgrounds and X-Plane does the rest. I'll update the description of this file

Just drop the BackgroundRandomizer folder into <X-Plane>/Resources/plugins, and then put all the backgrounds you want into the BackgroundRandomizer/images folder

ok and what size and type of images are supported?

I believe only png files will work, but any size should be fine. I would use images that are the same size as your screen, but it's up to you.
